My work 12 ~ Dahlia~

「花恋（かれん）」

ソープカービングの定番、ダリア。
日本語では「天竺牡丹」という別名がありますが、 「ダリア」の方が有名ですね。

実は、この作品、ソープカービングを始めて２か月後に彫ったもので、
５作品目なのです。
そう、夏の花なのに、真冬に彫りました（笑）。
でも、暗いイメージのある冬を明るくしてくれる、
そんなカービングでした （私の上手・下手は別にして・・・）。

ダリアは、変種を起こしやすい植物のため、色・形の種類が豊富で、
その数3万種以上だそうです。
その分、いろいろなアレンジもできますね！

メキシコの国花。
花言葉は、「華麗、エレガント」。

使ったナイフは１本、
所要時間は2.5時間でした。

“A Flower in Love”
This carving is one of the most popular reliefs among soap carving artworks.
The flower has its Japanese name, called “天竺牡丹 (Tenjiku botan)”, but I think “dahlia” is more popular.

In fact, I carved this two months after I started carving, which means I did in the middle of winter although it is a summer flower!
And this is my fifth work.
However, this carving experience made me cheer up (I do not like winter.)

Dahlia is easy to have genetic mutations, therefore, there are way too various kinds of shapes and colours. Guess what!
Dahlia has more than 30,000 varieties!
Thanks to this fact, we can carve lots of kinds of dahlia!

Dahlia is a Mexico’s national flower.
The flower language is “elegant and pomp.”

One knife was used for this work.
It took me about 2.5 hours.
